Kickers and Gliders Program
Overview The Kickers and Gliders program at Soldier Hollow is designed for youth ages 6–11 who are new to cross-country skiing or looking to build foundational skills. Through trail exploration, games, and on-snow drills, participants learn the basics of skiing while staying active and developing a love for the outdoors. Program Structure

Junior Development Team (JDT) Program

Senior Development Team (SDT)
Overview Team SOHO’s Senior Development Team (SDT) is designed for motivated athletes ages 14–19 who are committed to advancing in cross-country skiing or biathlon. Training takes place at Soldier Hollow, a world-class venue offering mid-altitude conditions, expert coaching, and elite-level resources to support development from regional to international competition. The program emphasizes both athletic excellence and personal growth, teaching valuable life skills such as resilience, accountability, and self-motivation. Ideal Athlete Profile SDT is best suited for athletes with a foundational background in skiing. The program builds on core skills and introduces advanced training methods to elevate performance. Training Structure Athletes typically train 350–500+ hours per year, depending on individual experience and physical maturity. The program follows a polarized training model:
Training is guided by scientific methods, including heart rate monitoring and blood lactate testing, to ensure optimal zone targeting and race pacing. Seasonal Focus
Participation Options Most athletes train year-round with a break in April. However, athletes involved in other sports can still succeed by focusing on skiing during the December–March season. What to Bring:
