This winter is incredibly busy for Team Soldier Hollow. Between the JNQ races and Citizen's Series, most every weekend has the kids racing. Citizen's Race #4 was a skate race at our favorite venue- Soldier Hollow. We had 33 kids plus several ski coaches compete, and everyone had a fun time! We had some stand-out races and a few of the kids ended up on the podium:
Xander Burkemo, Spencer Brosnahan, Ingrid Norton and Christine Sheehan from the Comp team Maddux Leonard and Monica Davis from the Devo Team Phillip Radu, Martin Radu, Eli Sullivan, Jacob Chamberlain and Margot Peterson from the Youth League program The Comp team just got back from the first JNQ of the season held at Bogus Basin. The kids had a great time and posted some good results. Day one's classic race Ingrid Norton had an amazing race and placed 6th in U18 girls!! Other top finishes were: Xander Burkemo (14th), Spencer Brosnahan (23rd), Morgan Mischo (10th), Joseph Jackson (24th), Mix Broadhead (31), Joshua Livingstone (25th) and Mason Heimburger (17th)
The kids that stayed here were able to ski the Classic race at Mountain Dell. Even though we were small in number, the kids were amazing and we had a fun time. Top girl's finishes for the day were: Christine Sheehan (1), Addison McCarthy (2), Pearl Harvey (1), Sara Livingstone (4), Sophia Burkemo (10), Monica Davis (1), Zoe Peterson (6) and Margo Peterson (1). On the boys side we had Cole Burnett (1), Kenyon Bethke (4), Daniel Radu (3), Kaleb Schaffer (4), Easton Boyer (5), Isaac Sullivan (6), Phillip Radu (2), Finnian Schaffer (5), Eli Sullivan (3) and Martin Radu (5) And just like that, the next Wasatch Citizen's race is in the books. There was some great skiing to be had over at White Pine, and the kids did fantastic!! Team Soldier Hollow had 37 youth skiers participate in the skate race, as well as a couple of parents.
On the boys side we had Xander Burkemo, Phillip Radu and Martin Radu on the podium On the girls side we had Ingrid Norton, Christine Sheehan, Monica Davis and Margot Peterson on the podium The team continues to improve and we are looking forward to the next race at Mountain Dell. Good luck to the Comp Team as they travel to Bogus Basin for the first JNQ of the season. The first Citizen's race of the season was at Soldier Hollow on Dec 19th.
