Tonight was the second Fast and Female Power Hour hosted by Soldier Hollow. Tonight's activities were turo kick boxing and an inspirational presentation by Olympian Liz Stephen. As usual, the fun kick off with glittering up some headbands and an event poster! Be sure to look for the fun posters from each event in the basement =) Turns out turbo kick boxing is SUPER fun!!! I think everyone broke a sweat trying to keep up with the fast paced moves! Huge thanks to Rachel our kick boxing instructor. After kick boxing, Liz talked with the girls about what she loves sports and what it is like to be a professional cross country skier. She wrapped it up with this great video. Be sure to wait for the very end! Overall, it was a GREAT night! Be sure to check out the annual Fast and Female Champ Camp. This is the half day event at the U.S. Ski Team training facility in Park City. It is a great opportunity to meet Olympians from many winter sports! You can register for that event here. The all-Utah group workouts are back! For the rest of the fall all the Utah teams are getting together once a week to get faster and fitter. Devo Team and Comp Team skiers are invited! Don't miss out on the fun... Fall/winter registration is open here.
Calling all adult skiers! Dryland isn't just for the kids anymore. Comp Team coach Morgan Smyth will be leading a weekly dryland technique session for anyone looking to improve their skiing before the snow arrives. These sessions will all be on foot (no rollerskis) and aimed at improving technique and not as much as getting in a killer workout. Be prepared for hiking with poles, a little bit of hoping around, and drills (you do not need to be a runner).
We will meet on Thursday mornings, starting September 12, at 8:30am at the ski lodge. Bring water and wear clothes and shoes you are comfortable moving around and hiking in. This is for adults only! Sorry kids... we have lots of other programs for you =) Soldier Hollow's first Fast and Female Power Hour was a great success! Lots of girls, glitter, pink, fun, and games. We also learned how to fuel up for and recover from our next game, meet, race, practice, event, etc. Thank you to Play Well Play Safe Foundation for sponsoring this event!
The next Power Hour is scheduled for the end of September. Check back soon for more info! Check out photos from all the fun below. Photo Credit: Tricia Livingstone |
