WCS #4

1/25/2014

Team Soldier Hollow came out in force on a beautiful blue bird morning for a race on our home course. Our goal was to have 30 racers and the team blew that goal away with a total of 41 racers!! It was great to see new racers tearing up the track alone side experienced veterans.

Some race highlights include a total Soldier Hollow domination of the J5 and J6 categories. Sophia Burkemo and Sara Livingstone went 1 and 3 in the FJ4 category and Addison McCarthy took second in the FJ2 category. Soldier Hollow swept the MJ3 category with Cole Burnett, Mason Heimburger and Joshua Livingstone placing first, second and third. Full results can be found here later tonight. Thanks to all of those who came out and raced! It was an awesome day for team Soldier Hollow!!!

The next race is the Soldier Hollow Super Qualifier (SuperQ) on Friday Feb 7 and Saturday Feb 8 (more info coming soon). Hoping we can have another great turnout!

THank you to everyone who volunteered at U.S. Cross Country Championships and Winter Trails Day. It has been a busy past few weeks and everything would not be possible without the help of our wonderful volunteers!

U.S. Cross Country Championships

1/6/2014

The best cross country skier from all over the USA have made their way to Soldier Hollow for this week's U.S. Cross Country Championships. Fischer Heimburger is the lone Team Soldier Hollow skier racing this week. He started off the week strong in his first ever 15km classic race by finishing 18th in the U18 category!

Sunday's sprint event, held on the NEW sprint course which goes half way up Hermods Hill, proved challenging and fun. Fischer skied strong but just missed advancing to the Junior heats. He, along with many other Team SoHo skiers, got to watch the sprint heats and learn for the SuperQ and future sprints.

On Sunday, Fischer wasn't the only Team SoHo suit out on course. About seven other Devo and Comp Team skiers got to forerun the event! It was great to see all the blue and green out on course.

The racing continues on Wednesday with the mass start skate races. Go to www.uscrosscountrychamps2014.com for full schedule and results.

In case you missed it, Fox13 had some coverage of the event on the 9:00pm news.
