The July Devo Camp was an adventure filled week that left everyone tired, happy, and excited for next year! The TUNA Team was able to join us for most of the week including the overnight camping trip to Mount Nebo. Here's a little recap with some highlights:
Day 1: We kicked off the camp with paddle boarding and kayaking on Deer Creek, a skate rollerski in Round Valley and fun swim races at PC Marc. Day 2: Everyone piled into the car for a trip down to Salt Lake City to do the infamous Agony Hill. We had 2 Devo skiers who did the climb in the June camp and both saw about a minute improvement in their times!!! After Agony we embarked on a full afternoon of bouldering and climbing at Momentum Climbing Gym. This place is 20,000 square feet of climbing! There were definitely some tired campers by the time we got back to Midway. Day 3: TUNA joined us for rollerski agility and a biathlon relay at Soldier Hollow. We are so lucky to have the 2002 Olympic Biathlon venue at our home base! The afternoon we filled with slip-n-slide wiffle ball and water balloon relays. This (or the evening game of charades) may have been the most entertaining activity of the camp. Check out the photos below. After games, we loaded up the van and drove over to Ponderosa Campground on the Mount Nebo loop. Luckily we beat the storm and were able to set up camp and a giant tarp over the eating area before deluge began. Energy levels were not dampened by the storm and a fun evening of charades ensued before the storm cleared in time for smores. Day 4: The last day of camp started early as we had to eat breakfast and break down camp before hitting the trail. The plan for the day: summit Mount Nebo, the highest peak in the Wasatch (just barely beats Timp). The hike was 4 miles each way of STEEP climbing. The best part, all the kids made it to the summit and back! Post hike, we made a quick stop at Payson Lake for watermelon and a swim. Overall, it was an awesome camp! Check out the photos from Jen Jackson and Morgan below. The Youth League Adventure Camp concluded yesterday. Here are some highlights:
Day 1 - Biathlon with running, climbing at The Fit Stop, followed by the obstacle course race. Day 2 - Ropes course at the Utah Olympic Park. Lunch, swimming and fun at the PC Marc. Day 3 - A hike to Stewart Falls, slip-n-slide wiffleball, and an assortment of fun relays! Overall, it was a great camp! Check out the great photos below: The Comp Team has been surviving the heat the past few weeks! The hot weather has given us an excuse to spend some time in the gym improving our core and upper body strength. Here they are working on double pole technique and power.
