It was the Comp Team's turn for a fun week of hard training!
Wednesday kicked off the camp with a trip down to Salt Lake for the Agony Hill time trial. Despite the very warm temps, half of the group got PRs (personal records)!!! That afternoon we made our way to Provo to the new, and amazing, Provo Recreation Center. 7 pools, water slides, climbing wall over the water, this place has it all!!! They even had an amazing and air conditioned weight room to do our strength workout. Thursday we met up with the TUNA team for a distance skate rollerski followed by bouldering at The Mine (new bouldering gym in Park City). Friday, TUNA came to Midway for a classic sprint relay! We did this workout last year and it was amazing to see the improvement from Team SoHo!!! All the training has definitely paid off! Friday afternoon we headed down to Hangtime. This wasn't in the initial camp plan but the Team insisted that they wanted to go! Guess you are never too old to jump on an endless sea of trampolines. Next stop: Loop Campground at the base of Deseret Peak! Somehow we dodged all the dark storm clouds and stayed dry! Charades, fire building, and smores kept us busy until dark. Saturday morning we woke up early, packed up gear and hit the trail by 8am! Deseret Peak is just over 11,000 feet but has a very well manicured trail to the summit. It is one of the few summit hikes that is easily made into a 7+ mile loop with almost 4,000 ft of climbing. The crew kept pretty good energy and were even able to run a bit! All in all it was a fantastic camp! Lots of good training and good fun. There are some photos below. Email [email protected] if you would like any of the originals! |
