Winter seems to have disappeared here in Utah but that isn't slowing down Team Soldier Hollow. We have been hard at work prepping for various events. The Comp Team has been training hard for the final JNq weekend in McCall, ID. The Devo Team has a busy two weeks ahead with the Charter School Olympics (CS students only), the final Wasatch Citizen Series race AND the Intermountain Youth Festival. AND lets not forget the Youth League skiers! Many of them are excited for their first ever race at the Youth Ski Festival!
To prepare for all these events we have been having some FUN on the snow! Check out the Team SoHo guide to surviving May weather in February... Alternative Training Method 1 - SUNRISE INTERVALS! The Comp Team decided to throw in 1 morning a week of training before school. The snow is FANTASTIC in the early mornings and this has allowed us to go fast on hard snow! Alternative Training Method 2 - BEACH PARTY! All the programs participated in an afternoon of games in their finest beach attire! The hula hoop games were a blast and the costume contest a success! Alternative Training Method 3 - KLISTER - Turns out that classic skiing is much more fun than skate skiing in deep slush. Both the Devo and Comp Teams have perfected their klister application and removal skills. Alternative Training Method 4 - Get TOGETHER - Since Soldier Hollow is one of the only places you can xc ski in Utah right now Team SoHo, Wasatch Academy, and Park City Nordic got together for an early morning skate time trial on Saturday. Alternative Training Method 5 - SMILE! Bright sunshine, flip flops, skiing in a t-shirt... if you focus on the fun part of May weather in February it really is something to smile about =) Stay tuned for updates from all the upcoming races and events. Oh yeah, and don't forget to register so you too can be part of the fun! Comments are closed.
