Last weekend marked the final challenge of the season! The West Yellowstone Rendezvous, a 25km skate race. If one athlete beat Coach Morgan the team would go out for pizza. For two weeks Ingrid, Sierra, Spencer and Xander worked on their endurance with long skis and longer level 3 intervals. Come race day, all that training paid off!!! Everyone had an outstanding race! Xander finished 1st for Team SoHo (almost 2 minutes ahead of Coach Morgan) to place 5th overall, 1st in his age group!!! Spencer finished 31st, 5th in his age group. The girls skied most of the race together. Sierra pulled away in the final kilometers to take first in the 13-17 age group. Ingrid wasn't far behind in second! The highlight of the day was that EVERYONE paced really well and skied strong into the finish!!! Just to make sure everyone (except Coach Morgan) slept really well during the car ride home we got up early Sunday morning and headed into West Yellowstone National Park for a long skate ski! We were lucky to see a herd of Bison along the Madison River. Check out our photos below. According to Xander, who enjoyed his victory pizza until he couldn't eat another bite, it was "the best race of the year!!!" Comments are closed.
